It is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley. It includes the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, an international park shared with Botswana. It also includes the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. The Namaqualand region in the west is famous for its Namaqualand daisies.

Northern Cape has a substantial agricultural area around the Orange River, including most of South Africa’s sultana vineyards.

Wintershoek MTB Rally and the regions boast a number of extreme activities for both local and international visitors. Ghaap River Xtreme festival includes numerous activities, from a water ski tournament, speed boat show, barefoot ski show, half marathon, mountain bike race, paint ball, hot air balloon flights and controlled aeroplane show.

A number of recommend and rated restaurants, Camps, B&B’s are on offer. Wildlife differs from north to south. This is the breathtaking province and the best for those travelers willing to experience nature, adventure and culture.
